Big And Psych, That’s What We’re Gonna Do / SOB 4.04.24

This episode marks the one year anniversary of the final rev. dr. atavist-hosted episode of SOB. I tried to pattern its overall ‘flow’ after that episode in terms of track lengths, artist selections, etc…. it also features a brand new 13 minute whopper of a track from nmesh, featuring Torn Hawk on guitar. The track, titled ‘Tiffany Gomas’, is one that is near and dear to me, for reasons that I will not fully detail here, as I want it to remain a surprise for any new listeners. Many thanks to nmesh for generously allowing it to be debuted for this very special occasion.

I will say this – as many of you are well aware, Kevin and I used to watch a lot of movies together. In that time, I noticed certain narrative tropes that he seemed to have an affinity for; not ones that were ever stated outright, but ones that I noticed him honing in on time and time again. One such example of this is expositions that involve supernatural or otherworldly phenomena being observed by a character who is not taken seriously by the other characters around them, thus leading to their subsequent warnings falling on deaf ears (e.g. the town drunkard witnessing a UFO land, and trying to warn people about it). Without giving too much away, I think that Kevin’s enjoyment of such plot points are a good indicator that he would have loved the subject matter of this song.

Alright. I think that’s enough vague allusions for one blog post.

Dedicated in memory of rev. dr. atavist, known terrestrially as Kevin McFadin.
