To celebrate the one year anniversary of when I started hosting SOB, I decided to carry out an idea I had been turning over my head since around that same time last year – an alternate soundtrack for the Ken Russell film Altered States (1980), comprised entirely of music from the Dreamlord Recordings and Fruits De Mer Records compilation of the same name that was released last year, and other releases from the artists who are featured on it. The uploads above certainly stand on their own, but for those looking to be fully submerged, I recommend syncing it up with the film. Because it got off to kind of a rocky start on-air, I have included two files above: the recording of the show as it aired, and the mix itself in isolation. If you wish to experience the sync, pause the film at the black screen before the fade in to the first shot of the isolation tank, and press play on the film and the mix simultaneously. For those looking to sync the film to the radio recording, the countdown at 18:24 will be the one you want to follow.
