Smoke Stacks Shine Like Giant Candles / AC:RW 08.08.24

The first hour of tonight’s show is built around three selections from the soundtrack for NEPADOC, a nonverbal film about northeastern PA and its history. The film was directed by David Heineman, who also collaborated with musician David Drago to create it’s improvised analog synth soundtrack. Viewing the film as seen in the photo above, projected onto the ruins of the Austin Dam in Potter County, PA was one of the greatest, most personally resonant film viewing experiences I’ve ever had, so after seeing it I knew I had to do an episode of Altered Circuitry with it’s music at the center. As thematic fate would have it, nmesh released the RMS Ephratha PA EP a few days after I saw this incredible film, so several cuts from that are included in the first hour as well. Plenty of great stuff in the second hour as well, including the new George Clanton / TV Girl collaboration.
